Public records in Clearwater

The record you want already has a keeper.

In all 214 municipalities somebody is responsible for finding it, and the law gives them five business days. CAMRO trains those clerks, certifies them, and answers the phone when the request is the first of its kind.

Five business days

Chapter 42 of the Clearwater Public Records Act

A request is a deadline, not a favour.

Five business days to respond, extendable once by ten. In a town of 1,200 people the clerk who owes that response is also the elections official, the licensing desk and the minute-taker.

CAMRO exists because that clerk should not have to work it out alone. We publish the model response letters, we run the training that keeps a denial from becoming a lawsuit, and we answer the phone.
