The association
Awards
Four awards, presented at the annual conference banquet. Any active member may nominate.
The awards
- Records Officer of the Year
- For outstanding practice in the preceding year — a project delivered, a backlog cleared, a municipality brought into compliance, a difficult disclosure handled well. Any active member may nominate; self-nomination is permitted and roughly a third of nominations are.
- The Halloran Award
- For a career contribution to municipal recordkeeping in Clearwater. Named for Margaret Halloran, city clerk of Fairholm 1958–1984 and CAMRO's first president. Not awarded every year, and deliberately so — it has been presented eighteen times since 1979.
- Rising Clerk
- For a records officer with fewer than five years in the role. Carries a paid place at the Institute.
- President's Award
- At the president's discretion, for service to the association. Frequently goes to someone who has quietly run something for a decade.
Nominating
One page. Say what the person did, when, and what changed as a result.
The committee keeps having to say this
A specific short nomination beats a general long one. It has said so consistently, and it keeps having to say it.
